Day Shift starring Jaime Foxx movie review

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are the stars of the new vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?

The movie's first scene is an action sequence featuring Jamie Foxx firing a shotgun at a woman who turns into a vampire. This then becomes a nuts fight sequence between the two of them that is such a blast. The movie's use of ragdoll physics in its action scenes makes them pop in a way that many other action movies (or blockbusters) do not.

Day Shift, is the movie that makes you feel so bad you're actually enjoying it. It is so obvious what they were trying, yet it fails so miserably. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is full of holes. Yet, somehow I enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for vampire movies, or maybe it's because I just enjoy watching bad movies. Day (original source) Shift was fun. It's not a great movie, but it's a lot of fun. This is all I expect from a movie like that.

Day Shift was an interesting movie. On one hand, there is a lot of fun action scenes and some fun characters (the two brothers and Seth), but on the other hand the villain was horrible, a lot of mediocre characters, though I guess that helps the better characters shine even more. There seemed to be missing scenes that were cut. Bud's neighbor acts like they're friends, even though before the final scene she maybe had 3 minutes of screen time. The best part of the movie was definitely when Bud went to work at the gas station and started making prank phone calls. It was hilarious. I loved it. However, the movie didn't end as well. So, overall, I'd say that Day Shift is a mixed bag. Some parts are wonderful, while others are awful. You could find a better movie if you are looking for some laughs.
